Wegeler is a family-owned company founded in 1882 by Julius Wegeler, who was originally a wine merchant and sparkling wine producer in the Deinhardt family. The business is now run by the fourth generation of the Wegeler family along with Ralph Frenzel as the family-owner representative under Managing Director Richard Grosche.

The Wegeler wineries consist of three branches on the Rhine and Moselle, based on a shared passion for Riesling. At the beginning of 2007, part of the assets of the Weingut Krone Assmannshausen winery were acquired.

Special production features: Hand harvesting. Double sorting in the winery. Gentle pressing. Fermentation in steel. Then aged in large oak barrels depending on the cuvée. Not filtered, not clarified.

Certification and agrarian techniques: Organic approaches to winemaking. The long history of the Wegeler house is closely tied to the Association of German Winemakers (WBV), of which Julius Wegeler was president from 1893−1905. The Wegeler wineries are members of the Association of German Winemakers (VDP). The association was founded in 1910 with the support of the Wegeler wine house!
