The Velich winery was originated by Otto Velich in 1933 and is located in the heart of the Neusiedler See Seewinkel Apetlon Lake Nature Reserve, surrounded by a great number of lakes. Since that time, the economy has been growing and developing, the only thing that has stayed unchangeable for many years it is the location of the vineyards themselves. About 90% of the vineyards are located in the National Park, their area is 10 hectares.

In 1990, the company was improved, enlarged and modernized. In 2006, production areas were increased and in 2010 a hotel was opened. The range of Velih wines is small, but the products are excellent quality. A distinctive feature of the winery is the production of only white wines, which are made according to the long traditions of the wine region.

In 2012, Falstaff-Magazin magazine awarded the Velih winery the title of "Winemaker of the Year".
