Pessac-Léognan is a wine region located in the northern part of the Grave region in Bordeaux on the left bank of the Garonne. The whole territory of the Grave is a continuous series of small hills completely covered with fairly large (up to 12−15 centimeters) gravel. Hence the historical name of the region. Pessac-Leognan is 1.2 thousand hectares vineyards. Approximately, 970 ha are planted with red grape varieties and 270 ha are for white varieties.
