Kremstal (Kremstal) — is wine-growing area with a total area of 2368 hectares is divided into three different zones: the historic city of Krems, the western part of which is called "Stein" and joins directly to the Wachau valley, the primordial Kremstal valley which is the mighty loess massifs adjoining in the east and just small wine-growing places south of the Danube around the monumental Stift Göttweig monastery. The hallmark of the region are the grape varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.
