Alberto Burzi
BRAND OWNER
Alberto Burzi is the owner of the property and winemaker, says that the choice of a life’s work is determined by the place of birth. Going by these footsteps of his grandfathers and great-grandfathers, he is also deeply in admiration with the generous land of his ancestries. "I like to think that every wine has a story to tell about joys, about challenges, about the land they were born in. My aim is to make wine that demonstrates the irresolvable bond between earth and vine, a wine in which elegance dominates powerful tannins. The creation of a great wine is the result of a foremost respect for nature, incessant work in the vineyards and hard work in the cellar. When I hold a glass of Barolo, first of all I want to see and feel the lands of Barolo, Langhe, La Morra" - this is Alberto’s greeting on the farm’s website. Alberto, who has an oenological background, works in the vineyard and in the cellar, and his wife Caterina helps him with communications and sales.

Traditionally, Barolo has been produced by blending grapes from different areas of the same value in order to enhance the best qualities of each bunch.

Most of Burtzi’s plots are planted with Nebbiolo Lampia vines, one of the oldest clones known today. The age of the vines in the historic vineyards "Roncaglia" and "Rocchettevino" ranges from 25 to 60 years. The vineyards are tightly controlled planting density and limit yields which allows you to get a crop of truly outstanding quality. No more than eight clusters remain on the vine. This is typical of the Lange zone.

Maceration at a controlled temperature takes place in steel tanks, and malolactic fermentation and aging in large Austrian oak barrels. All this allows you to maximize the fruit brightness and aromas typical of the Barolo wine production area.
