Puligny-Montrachet is a village (commune) in the Côte de Beaune region. Fame and money brings it white wine from Chardonnay, thought one of the best not only in Burgundy but also one of the greatest dry white wines in the world. It is allowed to produce red wine from Pinot Noir but it is produced in small quantities. Because of the boundaries of this commune are 17 vineyards of the Premier Cru category, which occupy almost the entire area of the commune, 91 of the 95 possible hectares, everything else falls on 4 Grand Cru plots (only white).
