Chambolle-Musigny
COMMUNE
Chambolle-Musigny is a commune (village) in the Côte de Nuits region with a population of less than 400, producing mainly red wines from Pinot Noir, with an exceptionally small amount of whites from Chardonnay grapes, produced only from the Musigny vineyard having Grand Cru status. Additionally, there is another "red" Grand Cru — Bonnes-Mares. Also in the commune, 24 climat (French) of the Premier Cru category got.

Chambolle is a colloquial transformation from Campus Ebulliens — "boiling field" - the Latin name reminds us of the ancient river Gron, now underground, and in the old days overflowing its banks and flooding local lands.
